Name Signs: an easy way to learn student names (November 2006)
A short article in the Internet TESL Journal on using name signs for classroom management and as a tool to use and remember student names. Most suited to large classes.

Elements of Teaching (October 2006)

The Thinking Teacher (May 2006)
This handout focuses on techniques teachers can use to think about their classes, with the aim of improving them through introspection. The handout examines introspection, student feedback, rubrics, and teaching diaries.

Dictation (October 2005)
This handout offers a brief explanation of why dictation is an effective tool for teachers, and then introduces a range of simple, adaptable dictation activities.

Phonics (April 2005)

This handout offers a brief explanation of phonics theory and practice, mainly aimed at junior high schools. This sheet is a list of adaptable activities that can be used to practice phonics.


TEFL (April 2005)
This handout attempts to offer a simplified overview of TEFL theories, qualifications, and careers. It also includes a short section on finding a job in EFL in Japan.
